Didnt wake up in time to go for LSI; missed the TRansitivity part, which according to the Rest, was horrible... jialat jialat liao...
Was having presentation meeeting the whole afternoon; besides me fidddling and amending the PPT slides, there were some moments of fun, like when Naga and BY were drawn into this discussion abt Power in the Media, in particular with Advertisers. For my part, i really feel strongly abt the portrayal of the MAsculinity Identity in Advertisements nowadays. And though one of my reference books was written by a gay activist (nothing agst gays, just that the book was quite one-sided), I felt strongly for the views expressed, that the everyday male faced conflicts in dealing with what type of Masculinity to portray. If he doesnt conform, he runs the risk of falling out of favour with the opposite sex, who will probably take up the gendered ideologies upheld by today's media and most likely fail to look behind one's looks (and their own flawed ideologies); also he runs the risk of being branded an outcast, an anti-thesis, non-conformist, maybe even an opposition party member. (lol) If he does conform, then he will be sucked into the whirlpool of endless consumerism and advertising brainwashing; all his dollar$ and cent$ will be thrown into the endless "fashion pit", in return for a facade of imagery and performance. Thus, the crisis of the male...
Anyway, after the presentation, I went to meet Dear; Dear's mum made some nice buns that i ate along the bus ride... ended up at BL mac where we saw auntie and their fren. Then some April Fool joke nearly went un-funny... hope everything's fine now... didnt get to eat nasi lemak thought....
Btw, was leaving a comment on Galvin's blog when i innocently clicked on a link by someone who had previously left a comment; turned out to be my senior, who had also been working at UCC. Shall go pop by his blog if i'm free...
