Hmmm I typed in a long post and it disappeared... try to summarise...
Read about the incident here and here.
In short, in Bourdieurian terms, whatever the guy has addressed and expressed are due to his Habitus, his predispositions and beliefs that shape how he behaves and interacts with the world. It is also about a reproduction of social class values, because it is from these values that his Habitus is built upon. Though I seem to attribute the perceived racism and elitism to the makeup of society (specifically the higher upper echelons of society) and the meritocracy system, the crux of this entry is that, we are what we are, whether we are conscious of what we havem or not; we cant be something that we want to be if we do not have the capital/resources to do so.
Signing off......... Back to books.........
