Infinite Complacency

I just love the title of this blog. Infinite complacency, Man has lots of it. And mroe often than not, we are not aware of it.

Anyway, the phrase was taken from the opening narrative of the new summer blockbuster, War of the Worlds. Dear and I caught it on the day it was to be scheduled to be released globally. Couldn't really figure who was the familiar voice behind the narration (later I learnt that it was Morgan Freeman.). I have to admit that it was pretty scary, the idea of being annihilated and exterminated by a species far more superior than us humansl; indeed its a battle between ants and men, only that we were the ants, and the invaders, men. One thing to note though: that in this period and age, the ending might sound anti-climatic and spoils the previous 90 mins that preceded it, but its the way Wells had envisioned in his book which Steven Spiel-the "Ice"-Berg faithfully adopted. In fact, the main details pretty much faithfully followed the book. Bearing in mind that the original literature was written in 1898, the ending would not have been strange at all to readers back then. And also, this is the grand-daddy of all alien invasion movies/literature; long range missiles, nukes and all had not been envisioned to be used against whatever invading visitors that would visit Earth. Actually, I quite like the ending, as it really brought home the point of Man's infinite complacency; that it actually takes something that we take for granted, the tiny micro- and macro-organisms to destroy and defend Earth against its Largest invaders.

Just came back from Bugis with Dear; she had went to get a bag from Bugis Village. We also went to Parco to check out the Singapore Food Festival Opening; there were so many things to eat over there that we dunno where to choose from (though cost was also a factor haha; it ain;t really cheap over there...) . Eventually, we settled on the smoked duck wrapped in egg crepe and black pepper crab from Long Beach. Had such a filling dinner in the end; some other interesting stuff that we didnt try include smoked duck floss prata, coin prata with fillings, Hakka cuisine, Hougang Otah (which smelled real nice but the stall had a long queue) and ice-balls (like ice kachang, but its a ball and served in plastic bags...)... REally wanted to try a bit of everything lah!!! =)

Yeah! Tml going JB to shop with Dear =)

Signing off........... Weekend beckons......
