Laptop away for servicing...

Yup finally I brought my laptop for servicing to school on Monday; the USB ports weren't working. Can anyone advise on how to maintain USB ports? Especially if you need to use them frequently (for your mouse, thumbdrive, etc?) ?

While I was waiting for the lunchtime hours to pass on Monday afternoon at the forum, I was surprised to see groups of ppl roaming around the campus. They were playing games, shouting cheers, singing songs, and some groups had someone carrying a flag/emblem of some sort - this could only mean one thing...

Freshmen Orientation Camp. Or FOC.

Talking about FO programmes do make me feel kinda old. Some of the friends whom I made during my FOC and FOW days are still around, while others have graduated. FOC still holds some meaning for me, probably because it sort of initiated me into life in Uni, getting myself familiar with the place even before school started, and identifying friends whom you can take similar modules and sit together with during first-year lectures. Of course, its probably also the last time that one would get to shout cheers like nobody's business and get away with it. I still remember a cheer which I heard on Monday:

(Guys) "Arts Fac 的 Char Bo Si Peh Chio Ah!"
(Gals, shouting while combing their imaginary long tresses of hair) "Yo, Ji, Sa, Si! Yo, Ji, Sa, Si!" *
(Gals) "Arts Fac 的 Tar Po Si Peh Yan Dao Ah!"
(Guys, shouting while combing back their hair) "Yo, Ji, Sa, Si! Yo, Ji, Sa, Si!"
(Together) "Wo Nang Si Arts Fac, Wo Nang Si Peh 'Said'! Wo Nang Si Arts Fac, Wo Nang Si Peh 'Said'!" **
"Bo 'Bay' Zhao ah, Bo 'Bay' Zhao ah, Arts Fac!"***

[* - 1,2,3 and 4 in Hokkien]
[** - Not the past tense of "say" , but pronounced as "S-ah-d" meaning stylo or something like that...]
[*** - 'Bay' mean Horse in Hokkien; Bo Bay Zhao literally means "No Horse Run", and its figuratively used to mean that something is indeniably a fact, or something like that...]

The first time I heard this funny cheer was indeed during FOC, and it kinda stands out in my memory till now, probably its funny too me. Anyway, the group entity is variable; for example I heard the Business ppl use it with Biz Ad (probably Business Adminstration for short; the desire to keep things short and abbreviated...). The FOC programmes certainly brought out some life in the campus during this holiday period.

Yesterday, I went K-Box-ing with Dear after we went to buy some storage boxes for her CDs/VCDs. The 2 Toyogo boxes were about just enough for her collection - amazing! But I probably would have that much of CDs as well, if i bother to dig them out from all the various places haha. Anyway, we were singing there for, like 3+ hours till dinnertime. Then it was TV watching and durian eating! I had not eaten so many durians for quite some time, courtesy of Dear's relative and her mom; I even brought home some! Now must go drink water le; dun wanna suffer from a hoarse throat for the week......

Oh yah! There will be Superstar Quarterfinals tonight and tml. If you think Hong Jun Yang (tonight) and Guo Meixi (tomorrow) is good, do vote for them!!! I knew Junyang from FO and Meixi (erm, sounds weird for me addressing her liddat cos I havent really talked to her before haha...) was from my batch in BPGHS... =)

Signing off.......... Going cycling later.........
